As winners of the National Outstanding Young Farmers awards in 2007, four
couples received a trip to Washington, D.C., during Ag Week in March of 2008. Jamie and Angela Larse (WI), Andrew and Erin
Kimmel (PA), Kevin and Liz Anderson (MD), and Shane and Erin Slivka (MT) were accompanied by Cheryl Salley of John Deere,
OFA Coordinator Lori Burrows, OFA President Jerry and Pat Barnes, and OFA Vice President Scott Hildebrandt.
The group toured the USDA and met with several officials there followed
by a tour of the U.S. Capitol and visits to the offices of Representatives from Montana and Wisconsin. They toured the monuments
in the evening and spent the following day at the Air and Space Museum, the Library of Congress, the Capitol Hill Club, and
Arlington.
